The Mountain itself: Der tibetische Name ist "Chomolungma", was "Göttinmutter des Landes" bedeutet. 1865 wurde der Berg international
nach dem englischen Vermesser George Everest benannt. 1960 legte die Landesregierung erstmals einen nepalesischen Namen fest:
