Dear London runners!

Congratulations to all who crossed the finish line!

Once again the 31st London Marathon was a very special one. It can truely be called the fastest ever. Emmanuel Mutai (KEN) set a new course record at 2:04:40. Mary Keitany (KEN) on her ony 2nd marathon clocked 2:19:19 what made her the fastest London winner not called Paula Radcliffe. German Irina Mikitenko finished 2:24:24 what is only 10 sec behind her winning time of 2008 - and what let her come just 7th this year.

33 Guinness world records were achieved: among them a group of 47 connected runners, fastest ever costumes of superhero, bride, male nurse, jester, Roman legionary. Uli Kilian solved 100 Rubik cubes while running. The one and only Chris Finill finished his 31st London Marathon sub 3 hrs like he did 30 times before!

34,738 finishers were counted. Not a record - after organisers sold 5,000 bibs less than the year before. They seem to have noticed that the route got to its limit. A great new record is the female finishers' rate of 35%!

If you like to run again next year be aware to enter the ballot on Tuesday, 26 April 2011. And try to get in early in the morning. The website will be closed on the same day after 125,000 will have applied.

The 32nd London Marathon will take place on 22 April 2012.
