37th London-Marathon, 22/04/2017
Results 2017
Mary Keitany and Daniel Wanjiru (KEN) are the winners of the
37th London Marathon 2017.
Mary Keitany wins London for the third time. In a brave race she
attacks the world record right from the start. Split times of
15:31 for the first 5K and 66:54 for the first half prove her
determination. At 2:17:01 she sets a new fabulous world record
in a women-only marathon. She improves Paula Radcliffe's
12-year-old time by 41 seconds. Behind her Tirunesh Dibaba (ETH)
becomes the 3rd fastest marathon woman in the world after
2:17:56.
The men's race produced an unexpected winner. Daniel Wanjiru
strongly parried the final attack of favourite Kenenisa Bekele
and won after 2:05:48 by a lead of 9 seconds.
The 37th London Marathon counts again a new record of
participants. 39,406 runners finished the race, roughly 300 more
than last year.
David Weir (UK) wins the wheel chair race for the 7th time.
